LINUX AND UNIX SUPPORT FOR THE BUSINESS COMPUTER USER

Windows is putting on pounds and there's no diet in sight Windows Robust?
No, Reubenesque

This happens when someone spends too much time concentrating on outward appearances and not enough time in more painful exercise. Her face is beautiful. Her fingers caress as well. She smells as sweet. And she is seductive as long as her clothes are on.

But get her naked, and we see that Windows, with over 50 million lines of source code and getting bigger every day, has lost all muscle tone. Windows is fat. She's bloated and obese. She's still beautiful if you look in the right places -- but you must look. She still performs well -- if you treat her just right. Just like the beautifully made-up ladies in the paintings, Windows is reubenesque.

This disorder is never planned. It evolves. Windows has been compelled by forces beyond designers' control to be all things to all users. No system can fulfill this dream and remain lean and fit. Especially an operating system. There are simply too many things to do, too many incompatible things to force into the same mold.

By contrast, linux developers spend more of their time exercising her muscles, stretching and toning. She's a bit more homely, but she's healthy.

So long as Microsoft dictates that Windows developers must continue to accent existing features, then the emphasis remains on her make up and not on her muscle tone. So long as Microsoft dictates that Windows developers continually add new features then she will continue to gain weight.

And it won't be pretty.
