Internet Service Providers

The BizNix survey does not include Internet Service Providers because the intention was to minimize the effects of virtual hosting on the results. However, if ISPs were surveyed, what would be the outcome?

To answer this question, we surveyed all of the ISPs that we could find that service our home town - Portland, Oregon. Here are the results.

The vast majority of ISPs use the Apache web server. The vast majority of Netcraft's 11 million web sites are virtual hosts on Apache web servers. Notice that those ISPs that don't use Apache prefer IIS about four to one over Netscape. The reasons for this are not clear to us yet though we have our suspicions.
